While Manager of Volunteer Resources and volunteer teacher Ed Sublett gets to hang out with future George Clintons all the time at the School, he recently got to meet the original funk legend at the Berklee City Music Network Conference in Memphis. Joining Ed at the conference
was Director of Music Education Julie Carter. An invited presenter at the three-day meeting of music educators, Julie shared her knowledge on
“Fundraising In-Kinds: Building a Volunteer Corps, Friend and Resource Raising” with other community advocates and cutting-edge leaders in the arts and after-school programming. She and Ed also had the opportunity to learn how other educators are using technology, social networking, and public relations to maximize exposure, as well as the latest techniques in teaching, evaluating and management. And, most importantly, how one charms his way into a photo with George Clinton who was a featured performer and presenter at the conference. As a member of the Berklee City Music Network, the Joy of Music School has access to the Berklee PULSE music method, which provides valuable online lessons and materials.
